THE MALAYSIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER AS GUEST-OF-HONOUR AT THE EID-UL-FITRI CELEBRATION AT THE ISLAMIC CENTRE, HOHOLA, PORT MORESBY, 30 AUGUST 2011
On the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitri celebration, the Secretary General of the Islamic Society of Papua New Guinea, Br. Qamrujjaman Mollah, had invited the Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery as Guest-of-Honour and the US Political/Economic/Public Diplomacy Officer, Mr. Brian Asmus.
The Malaysian High Commission donated food items to mark the end of the Ramadhan period and as a support to the Islamic Association of Papua New Guinea (IAPNG) at the Hohola mosque. After the speeches by the Imam of the PNG Islamic Society, Mikail Abdul Aziz and the Malaysian High Commissioner, the guests witnessed the local children reciting verses of the Quran and explanation of the meaning of Islam. The food donations were presented by the Malaysian High Commissioner to the Imam for the mosque.
