THE MALAYSIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER ATTENDED THE RECEPTION TO MARK THE WORLD REFUGEE DAY, 20 JUNE 2011
At the invitation of the Country Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Papua New Guinea, the Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery attended the Reception to mark the World Refugee Day on the global theme “1refugee Without Hope is Too Many” on 20 June 2011 at the National Museum and Art Gallery, Waigani, Port Moresby.
The invitees were invited to an exhibition of photos, refugee children drawings, films, paintings by local artists, give support to refugees by learning more about it and the Creative Art Students performed a drama relating to refugees and followed by discussions. The Guest-of-Honour was the Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Sir Michael Ogio. Also present was the Governor of NCD, Governor Powes Parkop and the UNDP Resident Coordinators and other Heads of Missons.
