The MTCP Alumni Dinner Year 2009, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

The MTCP Alumni Dinner was organised by High Commission of Malaysia on Tuesday 26 May 2009 at the Grand Palace Restaurant in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The Alumni Dinner was attended by 30 former participants of MTCP from various government agencies/departments of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Several senior executives from local private sectors and Malaysian companies that are currently operating in PNG were also invited to the function.  

 

Mr Henao Iduhu, Secretary of Information and Communication of PNG and Mr Kuildip Singh, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of PNG Airlines were invited as special guests.

 

Addressing at the gathering, Charge d’ Affaires, Mr Azman Rahim said that ‘Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme or known as MTCP has been implemented since 1980 by the Malaysian Government to signify Malaysia’s commitment to South-South cooperation which focusing on technical cooperation among developing nations. The philosophy of MTCP is based on the belief that the human resources development is a catalyst for countries to achieve sustainable economic and social development.

 

 Since the programme’s inception, 187 Papua New Guinean officials from various agencies/departments have successfully undergone various training and courses in Malaysia, and have returned to contribute immensely to the country’s development. Malaysia continues to welcome officials from Papua New Guinea to participate in the MTCP Programme’.

 There were about 40 guests attended the function and the function was covered by local newspaper The National.
