On 8 May 2013, the Malaysian High Commissioner / Dean of Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery attended and delivered a speech at the Workshop on Exploring Opportunities of Collaboration between Various Countries and the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). The Workshop was organized and coordinated by Prof. Subba Rao, President of the University Overseas Staff Association (UOSA) of the University of Papua New Guinea. The workshop was intended to generate ideas regarding UPNG’s opportunities for collaboration that include scholarships for students, donation of books, laboratory equipment, installation of computer laboratories and construction of academic buildings for student hostels.
As the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery addressed the meeting on behalf of the group. The High Commissioner further briefed the meeting about the latest development in Malaysia – PNG cooperation in the field of higher education that include proposed establishment of MOU between the two countries.
The Session was moderated by Prof. Albert Mellam, Vice Chancellor of UPNG and Prof. Kenneth Sumbuk, Pro-Vice Chancery of UPNG. It was attended by the High Commissioners of India and Solomon Islands as well as representatives of the US, Fiji, UK, Japan and Indonesia.
