7 August 2025 - The Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah celebrated the 58th ASEAN Day with a Flag-Hoisting Ceremony at the Chancery. The ceremony was attended by foreign dignitaries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including Mr. Farid Abdulrahman Al-Khazim, Assistant Director General of Consular Affairs and Head of Visa Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia (Makkah Region Branch), Consuls General and spouses, and Diplomatic Corps from ASEAN Member States in Jeddah.
During the ceremony, Consul General Mr. Roslan Sharif, in Malaysia’s capacity of the Chair of ASEAN for the year 2025, highlighted that the theme “Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN Future” aligns with Malaysia’s chairmanship theme of Inclusivity and Sustainability. He outlined ASEAN’s achievements over the past 58 years and emphasized Malaysia’s efforts during its chairmanship, including the adoption of ASEAN Vision 2045.
Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025 focuses among others on promoting regional peace, stability, and security; enhancing trade and investment; and advancing inclusivity and sustainability. The ASEAN Vision 2045 aims to make ASEAN a more resilient, innovative and people-to-people centered community.
The ceremony showcased Malaysia’s commitment to ASEAN’s mission and values, emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and cooperation among Member States.
The ceremony featured a video presentation on ASEAN Vision 2045 and a promotional video for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
