JEDDAH, May 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Saudi Arabia have agreed in principle to boost exchanges of Islamic television programmes to be aired in both countries.
Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Saudi Arabia had many Islamic programmes and also good channels which were suitable to be broadcast in Malaysia.
According to Ahmad Shabery, he believed Islamic programmes and channels would be well-received in Malaysia and it would be better if telecast directly.
"We also produce many good programmes and I believe they will be well accepted if aired in Arabian countries," he told Bernama after a meeting with the Saudi Arabia's Minister of Culture and Information, Dr Abdul Aziz Muhiuddin Khoja, here today.
Ahmad Shabery is currently in Jeddah to take part in the 2014 Asia Media Summit (AMS2014) organised by the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development.
AMS 2014 sees participation by 500 media experts from Asia Pacific nations, Europe and also Arabian countries.
