JEDDAH — A strong 400 Malaysians turned up for Malaysia Day 51th Anniversary celebration which was hosted by the Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak and spouse, Madam Aniza Khalid, on Friday, 19 September 2014 at the Consulate premises. Malaysia Day is held on September 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963.

The attendees were Malaysians professionals, students and families residing in Jeddah, Mecca, Madinah, Yanbu and other parts of Western region which is under the jurisdiction of the Consulate. The event began with the supplication of doa, hoisting of `Jalur Gemilang’, the National Flag of Malaysia and singing of Malaysia National anthem followed by speech by the Consul General.

Consul General Mohd Khalid Abbasi in his speech called on his fellow Malaysians to appreciate peace, preserve harmony and nurture solidarity with patriotism.  He then shared three Independence messages by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak which touched on the need to strengthen solidarity among Malaysians in facing challenges and tests, instilling confidence that the country could achieve any ambition as long as there is unity, and bequeathing a prosperous and peaceful Malaysia to future generations.

All present were served with a wide spread of authentic Malay dishes specially cooked for the occasion which was duly appreciated and enjoyed by all. A talk on the true meaning of independence and lucky draw were also held which was highly appreciated by fellow Malaysian. Consul General and Madam Aniza Khalid equally delighted to see a big turnout despite the event was held just two weeks before the commencing of Haj.

Many Malaysians met at the event were thrilled to be invited to such a historic program where they could gather among fellow Malaysians to share their love and patriotism towards their country and at the same time savor the authentic taste of Malaysian cuisines.
