JEDDAH: Civil servants serving abroad were today urged to always take care of Malaysia's good name, besides enhancing its image to the world.
Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr. Ali Hamsa, who made the call, said serving in Saudi Arabia also had its own challenges, especially in the matter of religious tourism, specifically during the Haj season and Umrah, with the latter happening throughout the year involving thousands of Malaysians.
"I also urge that the heads of department seriously oversee their subordinates while serving abroad.
"Although the departments overseas are smaller, the heads should nevertheless be attentive to the welfare of their staff."
Ali said this when attending a dinner function with 30 officers and staff of Malaysian government agencies at the Malaysian Consulate-General, here, last night.
Also present were Ali's wife Datin Seri Rohani Abdullah, Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Prof Datuk Syed Omar Al-Saggaf, Malaysian Consul-General in Jeddah Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak and Deputy Director-General of the Public-Private Partnership Unit under the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Zohari Akob.
