The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia wishes to inform that a fire broke out at the Ishraq al Madinah hotel which is situated within 350 meters from Masjid Al Nabawi in Madinah, Saudi Arabia on 8 February 2014.
15 Egyptians were reportedly killed and at least 130 were injured. So far, reports from the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia confirm that no Malaysians were involved or reportedly hurt due to the incident.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to liaise with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah in monitoring further developments.
