TOURISM MALAYSIA ROAD SHOW TO JEDDAH, 7-8 MAY 2012

JEDDAH: Tourism Malaysia, Jeddah organised a road show to promote Malaysia in Jeddah from the 7 to 8 May 2012. The delegation consists of representatives from Tourism Malaysia and private sectors i.e. travel agents and hoteliers to network and form strategic alliances with buyers i.e. travel agents and airlines from the Kingdom. A Gala Dinner was held on 7 May 2012 especially for all the top travel agents and airlines in Jeddah.

 

Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Mr. Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak was the Chief Guest and also delivered brief remarks to the invitees. Consul General, among others, mentioned that for 2012, Tourism Malaysia has set an ambitious target of 400 hundred thousand tourists from the Arabs and GCC countries and certainly their main target will be visitors from Saudi Arabia who were the top in visitor arrivals to Malaysia from the West Asia last year with 87,693 visitors. He further stated that the tourism sector has been recognized by the government as a major source of revenue and a catalyst for the Malaysian economic renaissance as in 2011, tourist arrivals was recorded at 24,714,324 million while receipts income was at RM58.3 billion or USD18 billion. The Consul General requested all to work more vigorously and closely with the Consulate in sending more Saudis to Malaysia, to savour the beauty and experience the sights and sounds of ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’.

 

The event became lively with the presentation of a promotional video entitled `Kuala Lumpur My City’ and performance of melodious Malaysian Ghazal band. As the saying goes, to know Malaysia is to love Malaysia, certainly everybody had a good time and enjoyed the evening. Kudos to Tourism Malaysia, Jeddah.
