JEDDAH: Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was chosen as one of the six Malaysian missions abroad to be given the opportunity to communicate with Y.A.B. Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Hj. Abdul Razak and his wife, Y.A.Bhg. Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor through a video conference from his official residence in Seri Perdana on Tuesday, 30 August 2011, in conjunction with Aidilfitri celebration. The one-hour teleconference was held with students and fellow Malaysians working in Islamabad, Jeddah, Rabat, Melbourne, London and Washington.
Nearly 31 Malaysians including the Consulate officials, students and professionals attended the video conferencing at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah. Present at Seri Perdana during the conference were YB Datuk Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, YB Senator Maj. Gen. (R) Dato’ Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, YB Senator Dato’ Sri Sharizat Abdul Jalil, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Ambassador Datuk Seri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis, Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States of America, YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia and their respective spouses.
During the video-conference, Mr. Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak, Consul General of Malaysia to Jeddah briefed the Prime Minister on the state of affairs of Malaysian students studying at four Universities i.e. Umm Al Qura University (UQU), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Islamic University of Madinah (IUM) and University Imam Riyadh, and professionals working in the Kingdom especially at the Western Region. A male student’s representative from UQU and female professionals from King Abdullah Medical City, Mekkah spoke to YAB Prime Minister and exchanged raya greetings. Y.A.B Prime Minister reminded the students and professionals abroad to return home upon completing their studies and gaining enough experience to further contribute towards the country’s development and prosperity. At the end of the 8 minutes slot, the Consul General and all present conveyed special `Raya and Merdeka’ greeting to YAB Prime Minister and Datin Seri.
