MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP) ALUMNI RECEPTION, 30 DECEMBER 2019
On 30 December 2019, H.E. Ambassador Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of the Sudan hosted a reception for the alumnus of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). The reception was held at the Exhibition Hall, PETRONAS Sudan Complex and was attended by 50 MTCP Alumnus, mostly officials from various government ministries, agencies as well as the private sector. The reception was also graced with the presence of H.E. Ambassador Abdulrahman Khalil, Director of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some of the members from Sudanese media agencies also attended.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Razdan conveyed his utmost appreciation to the alumnus for their willingness to attend the reception. H.E. Ambassador took the opportunity to briefly elaborate the main purpose of the establishment of MTCP, which is in tandem with the spirit of South-South Cooperation and to promote technical cooperation and capacity building among developing countries, where Malaysia could render its support in areas which Malaysia has experience and expertise. He also mooted the idea for the alumnus to establish an MTCP Alumni Association that would enable them to exchange views and contribute for the betterment of Sudan, taking advantage of sizeable number of alumnus, around 1,029 as of September 2019.
During the reception, it was interesting to note that three alumnus, for the first time ever have been invited to share their experience joining the MTCP course in Malaysia in the past years. There are Dr. Nawal Noureldaim Abuelhassan Salah from the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rangelands; Dr. Elnazir Saad Ali from the Ministry of Energy and Mining; and Mr. Omar Abdel Razaq Sharif from the private sector. All of them shared their wonderful experiences and stories when taking courses in Malaysia in the area of renewable energy, engineering, and halal matters. One of them, Dr Nawal also was delighted to share her ability to learn Bahasa Malaysia while pursuing her MTCP course.
The reception concluded with the guests enjoying an array of Malaysian delicacies prepared by the ladies of the Embassy.
