ASEAN SPORTS CARNIVAL AND FAMILY DAY 2011

The Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar, Republic of Senegal hosted and organised this year’s edition of ASEAN Sports Carnival & Family Day 2011 which saw the participation of all three ASEAN Embassies based in Dakar, namely; Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The ASEAN Sports Carnival & Family Day 2011 is aimed to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the ASEAN embassies in Dakar.
 
Badminton Competition:
The badminton team’s event was held on Friday, 21 October 2011 at the International School of Dakar (ISD) Hall saw the ASEAN Embassies competing furiously in the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Double and Mixed Doubles categories. The results of the badminton team’s event are as follows:-
 
            Badminton Team Event
Champion       -           Indonesia
2nd Place         -           Malaysia
3rd Place          -           Thailand
 
Aside from organising the team event, a special Under 12 Badminton competition was also held. The results are as follows:
 
            Under 12 Badminton Competition
Champion       -           Ms. Salma Nurintan Savira (Indonesia)
2nd Place         -           Master Darwisy Hanizam (Malaysia)

Bowling Competition:
The bowling completion was held on Monday, 24 October 2011 at Red Bowl, Sea Plaza. Results for the individual men’s and women’s events are as follows:-
 
            Men’s Bowling:
Champion       -           Mr. Jeremiah Oliver Jitos (Malaysia)
2nd Place        -           Mr. Raja Hanizam Putra (Malaysia)
3rd Place         -           Mr. Artsith Katawetawaraks (Thailand)
 
Women’s Bowling:
Champion       -           Mdm. Anita Alexander (Malaysia)     
2nd Place         -           Mdm. Sukinah Kambali (Malaysia)
3rd Place          -           Mdm. Normawati (Indonesia)
 
 
 
 
 
              
Futsal Competition:
The inaugural ASEAN Futsal competition saw only the Indonesian and Malaysian futsal teams competing. The final and only game saw Malaysia emerged as Champion by narrowly beating Indonesia with a 3 – 2 scoreline in a pulsating and fiercely contested match.

ASEAN Family Day:
The ASEAN Sports Carnival and Family Day 2011 concluded with a Family Day programme held on Saturday, 29 October 2011 at Rumah Malaysia attended by family members of the ASEAN Embassies as well as other ASEAN families in Dakar.  
 
The Family Day started off with traditional Malaysian breakfast of Nasi Lemak and delicacies such as ‘murtabak’, ‘kuih bakar’, ‘curry puffs’ and cakes. After a short break, the Children’s games such as ‘hot potato’, ‘musical chair’ and ‘fill the bottle’ were held.
 
Lunch was later served and while the guests were enjoying their meals, they were entertained by a number of singers from each ASEAN embassies.
 
The programme ended with a prize giving ceremony with the representatives from the Indonesian, Malaysian and Thai embassies presented prizes to the winners.
 
The Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar wishes to extend our outmost appreciation to all ASEAN missions in Dakar for their supports and active participations in this year’s edition of ASEAN Sports Carnival and Family Day 2011.
