Briefing on How to Manage Finances for the Al-Bukhary Scholarship Students

Wednesday, 19 May, 2021

Malaysia as an education destination received a boost this year with the availability of scholarships to West African students. The interest generated by the scholarships allowed the Embassy to encourage more Senegalese students who wanted to study abroad, to consider Malaysia.

The first batch of students are due to leave for Malaysia in June, having been delayed because of the Covid. From now until September, there should be a steady stream of students from Senegal and The Gambia heading to Malaysia.

On Wednesday, 19 May, students whose departure was imminent received practical briefing on how to manage finances, what to pack, and pandemic travel restrictions.

The Embassy is on track to see off and assist a record number of students - both privately funded, and government-sponsored - by year’s end. Thanks to a mix of Malaysia’s affordability as an education destination, as well as the quality of universities in the country.
