Malaysia Movie Night, 13 October 2018
The summer months (July-September) are particularly challenging in Senegal. In view of Malaysia’s Merdeka Day (Independence Day) falling on 31 August, and Malaysia Day falling on 16 September, this year the Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar decided to host a Movie Night to mark both occasions. The event was held on 13 October 2018, at the rooftop of Rumah Malaysia. We were fortunate that there was a nice cool breeze from the Pacific Ocean that day, turning Rumah Malaysia’s rooftop into an ideal place for people to relax and unwind.
The event was attended by 45 people including the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Poland, Palestine, India, The Gambia and fellow Malaysians in Dakar, as well as Senegalese Friends of Malaysia.
The highlight of the event was the screening of “The Journey” produced in 2014, and shown courtesy of Astro Shaw. Before the screening of the movie, the attendees savoured a barbecue dinner coupled with Chinese fried rice and Chicken Rendang.
Halfway through the movie, guests were treated to dessert of bread and butter pudding, cucur udang and Malaysian coffee.
