Certificate/Letter of Good Conduct
Malaysians or foreign nationals (previously residing, working or studying in Malaysia) are usually required to prove to local authorities that they are free from any criminal record when applying for visa extension and registering a company in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia and Mali. Other countries may wish to impose similar requirement for application of permanent residency (PR) or citizenship, visa and other official documentations.
Malaysians or other nationals (previously residing, working or studying in Malaysia), who wish to obtain such a proof or so called Certificate/Letter of Good Conduct, may file their applications online at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official website (www.kln.gov.my). Printouts of the application form and other documentations are to be submitted to the Embassy as follows:-
- Two (2) copies of online application forms;
- 3 recent coloured passport sized photos (3.5 x 5cm );
- Copies of Passport;
- Copies of Identity card (applicable for Malaysians only);
- Copies of Malaysian visa (applicable for foreign nationals) or other documents issued by Malaysian authorities for stay in Malaysia;
- A fee of CFA 4,500.
Applicants are kindly advised to submit their applications well ahead of time as the application process for a certificate/letter of good conduct usually will take some time as the application need to be referred to and cleared by the competent authorities in Malaysia.
Emergency Certificate
In the event of the loss of Malaysian passports during travels in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia and Mali, the Malaysian passport holders are required to immediately report the incident to nearest local police station.
The Embassy, in this case, may issue an Emergency Certificate to those Malaysians to facilitate their return to Malaysia.
Requirements for the Emergency Certificate are as follows:
- Duly completed IM.42 – Pin 1/97 application form (obtainable from the Embassy or from the Malaysian Immigration Department’s Official Website);
- A questionnaire form IM.42c on the loss of the passport (obtainable from the Embassy or from the Malaysian Immigration Department’s Official Website) ;
- 2 recent coloured passport sized photos with light blue background (3.5 x 5 cm) ;
- Copies of Identity card ;
- Copies of Birth certificate (if any) ;
- Extract copy of the police report ;
- Emergency Certificate fee of CFA 11,250.
Visa Applications
Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar, Senegal will only process visa application for the passport holders of Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia and Mali.
For the other foreign nationals (residing, working or studying in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia and Mali), the applicants must submit their temporary/permanent resident permits or a business registration from one of those countries or any form of documentations proofing that they are legally residing in those countries. The journey must begin from Senegal.
Application for Visa Without Reference (VTR).
Documents requiredfor the application of ‘Visa Without Reference’ (approval of visa is givenby the Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar, Senegal) are as below:
- Original Passport that is valid for not less than 6 months.
- Three (3) photocopies of passport
- Two (2) photocopies of visa application form (Form IMM.47)
- Two (2) coloured passport sized photographs of applicant
- Original confirmed return air ticket with two (2) photocopies
- Bank statement / traveller's cheque / Confirmed hotel booking
- Invitation letter (if any)
- Visa fee of CFA 5,360
Application for Visa With Reference (VDR)
Visa With Reference (VDR) is a visa issued by the Malaysian Representative Office abroad to a non-citizen to enable individuals to enter Malaysia after the visa is approved by the Immigration Department Headquarters.
Documents required for the application for ‘Visa With Reference’ are as follow:
- Original approval letter from the Department of Immigration Malaysia with two (2) photocopies
- Original passport
- Two (2) photocopies of passport
- Two (2) photocopies of visa application form (Form IMM.47)
- Two (2) coloured passport sized photographs of applicant
- Original air ticket and two (2) photocopies
- Visa fee of CFA 5,360
