RAMADHAN OUTREACH PROGRAMME 2010

On Monday, 6 September 2010 (27 Ramadhan 1431 Hijrah), in conjunction with the Holy Month of Ramadhan, the Embassy of Malaysia with the cooperation of PERWAKILAN Dakar (Ladies’ Association of the Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar) presented donation of rice, cooking oil and sugar to the Mosque of HAMO 4 in Dakar. The donation of rice, cooking oil and sugar are to be distributed to poor members of the HAMO 4 Mosque’s community for the upcoming celebration of Hari Raya Aildiltri or Korite.
 
 
 
H.E. Dato’ Jamaiyah M. Yusof, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Senegal on behalf of the Embassy of Malaysia and PERWAKILAN Dakar presented the donation to Imam Mouhamadou Lamine Diop, Imam of HAMO 4 Mosque. H.E. Dato’ Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Jeremiah Oliver Jitos, Counsellor, Madam Sukinah Kambali, Personal Assistant of the Ambassador and Mr. Ibrahima Bathily, Translator during the programme. On hand to receive the arrival of the delegation from the Embassy are Imam Diop and some members of the congregation. Prior to the presentation ceremony, H.E. Dato’ Ambassador performed Solat Dzuhur at the Mosque.
 
 
 
In her remarks during the simple presentation ceremony, H.E. Dato’ Ambassador said that the donation is a small gesture to promote Islamic solidarity between Malaysia and Senegal and it is part of the Embassy’s effort to promote Malaysia in Senegal. More importantly, the donation is to help the poor members of HAMO 4 community to celebrate a meaningful Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. 
 
 
 
Imam Diop on behalf of HAMO 4 Mosque and members of its congregation thanked the Ambassador, Embassy and PERWAKILAN Dakar for the donation and informed that the Mosques welcomed such initiative as it would promote Islamic solidarity and brotherhood. Imam Diop also informed he welcomed contribution in any form to support the renovation of the mosque. Immediately after his remarks, Iman Diop led the thanks giving prayer.
 
 
 
 
After the thanks giving prayer, H.E. Ambassador and members of the Embassy were conducted to a short tour of the Mosque which is currently under renovation during which Imam Diop explained his plan for HAMO 4 Mosque which include to enlarge the prayer hall to accommodate the increasing numbers of the congregation members as well as to have area to conduct Islamic classes to children and younger members of congregation.
