WORKING VISIT OF YAB TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD,
PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA TO DAKAR
REPUBLIC OF SENEGAL

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad led the Malaysian delegation to the Third International Conference on the Emergence of Africa (ICEA) in Dakar, Senegal on 17 January 2019. This was the first appearance of the Prime Minister of Malaysia at ICEA since the convening of the Conference in 2015.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato' Hj. Marzuki bin Hj. Yahya as well as senior government officials from the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The theme of the Third ICEA 2019 - "Emergence, Private Sector and Inclusiveness", were focusing on promoting and strengthening the role of the private sectors in the African emergence plans.
The highlight of the Prime Minister's attendance at the Third ICEA was his participation at the High-Level Panel Discussion which took place after the ICEA Opening Ceremony. The session also includes the participation of President of Mali, and the President of the Republic of Senegal.
The Prime Minister also had a bilateral meeting with the President of Senegal at the Presidential Palace, discussing matters of mutual interest with the objective of enhancing bilateral ties as well as collaboration on pertinent regional and global issues on 16 January 2019 immediately after his arrival at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Airport in Dakar.
