YBhg. Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, led the Malaysian delegation’s participation at the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State” held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 10 - 12 October 2025 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
The main purpose of Datuk Seri Shamsul’s visit was to lead the Malaysian higher education delegation to engage with various stakeholders in the education sector and to attend the promote Malaysia as a preferred destination for quality education. Aside from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and the IIUM Alumni Foundation, seven (7) Malaysian universities also participated in the exhibition, namely Sunway Education Group, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, ‘Taylor’s University, and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.
In addition, Datuk Seri delivered a public lecture on Malaysia Madani to university students at the Institute of International Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where he shared insights on the Malaysia Madani framework.
Datuk Seri also paid a visit to Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd office in Ashgabat, engaging with representatives to gain insights into ongoing operations and the company’s contributions to Turkmenistan’s energy sector. At the International Exhibition, he met with high-level dignitaries including H.E. Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, and H.E. Mergen Gurdov Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, further strengthening bilateral relations and identifying opportunities for collaboration in trade, education and energy sectors.
