Sebit Wants To Work With TM To Supply Education Solutions To Malaysian Schools - Muhyiddin

ISTANBUL, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- Sebit, an education and information company of Turk Telecoms, the telecommunication giant in Turkey, has expressed interest to work with Telekom Malaysia Bhd to supply education solutions to Malaysian schools.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the company conveyed its interest to him through its chief executive officer Ahmed Eti during a 30-minute meeting on the last day of his working visit to Turkey Tuesday.

Muhyiddin, who arrived on Sunday, is also heading the Malaysian delegation to the first economic summit in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference which ended yesterday.

He will depart for Kuala Lumpur Tuesday.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said the company wants to collaborate with Telekom Malaysia to provide education solutions for science and mathematics to Malaysian schools.

The solution can work as an additional education tool to further enhance academic achievement," he told Malaysian journalists covering his visit.

He said the product was used in many countries, including in the United States, and some 15 million Turkish students have benefited from it.

"I proposed to the company to submit an official proposal to the Education Ministry's Technology Department. We will then look into that," said Muhyiddin.

Recently, Sebit bagged an information and technology award in the US for their Adaptive Curriculum sofware, an internet-based system that helps to improve learning and teaching abilities of both students and teachers who are involved in the US Mathematics and Science Primary Education Programme.

Turk Telecoms, which owns 99.9 per cent Sebit shares, provides integrated telecommunication services from public switch telephone network (PSTN), global system mobile (GSM) to wide band internet. It is one of the three GSM operators in Turkey.

The group is servicing 16.8 million PSTN customers, six million internet service customers and 12.1 million GSM customers as of Sept 30, 2009.
