Ambassador Chuah partakes in Ukraine cultural and liTerature field trip
The General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions (GDIP) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine organized its annual familiarization field trip for Heads of Foreign Mission from 28-29 April 2012. The venue for this year outing was the historic town of Kanev to showcase the great work and monument of the iconic Taras Shevchenko, the great Ukrainian poet and philosopher.
Unlike the previous years, this year’s event was to commemorate the 20 Anniversary of the establishment of GDIP. Also participating in the trip were Deputy Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Viktor Maiko, senior officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Governor of the Cherkasy Region, Mayor of Kanev town and invited guests from the other GDIP in the CIS countries.
H.E. Mr.Chuah Teong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine has the opportunity to experience the breathtaking and scenic landscape along Dnieper River aboard a riverine cruise liner. The field trip has enabled H.E. Ambassador Chuah to understand and appreciate deeper the many renowned masterpieces and great literatures of Taras Shevchenko. This national hero has become the symbol of uniting the Ukrainians’ spiritual forces through his creative work of Kobzar and also an inspirational source of wisdom, nationalism, patriotism and spiritual motivation for the modern generation of independent Ukrainian state.
