ASEAN Embassies in Kiev, Ukraine namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam gathered on the occasion of the 52nd ASEAN Day Celebration on 8 August 2019. The ASEAN Day is a celebration to mark the formation of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) on 8 August 1967.
The event hosted by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine H.E. Nguyen Anh Tuan, saw the participation of H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah and spouse YBhg. Datin Roslina Ismail including home based staff from the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv.
The day started with a Flag Raising Ceremony accompanied by the ASEAN anthem, “The ASEAN Way”. After the formal speeches by the host and the representative from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, guests were treated to sumptuous brunch prepared by ASEAN Embassies. Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners’ embassies were also present.
ASEAN under Thailand’s chairmanship in 2019, under the theme ‘Advancing Partnership for Sustainability’ aims towards a people-centred, people-oriented and forward looking community.
