REPATRIATION OF STRANDED MALAYSIAN CITIZEN IN GEORGIA

On 31 March 2020, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv, Ukraine which is concurrently accredited to Georgia has successfully repatriated a Malaysian citizen who has been stranded in Georgia since 21 March 2020 following the cancellation of international flights at Tbilisi International Airport due to Covid-19. With the cooperation from the relevant authorities in Georgia including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Malaysian citizen managed to board Georgian Airways Flight A9651 from Tbilisi International Airport to Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam and thereafter continued his journey to Doha and Kuala Lumpur. H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine was in regular contact with Mr. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia on this matter. Upon arrival at the Schiphol Airport, the Malaysian citizen was rendered assistance by officers from the Malaysian Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands.
