Malaysians in Kyiv gathered at the Embassy for an afternoon tea aimed at fostering the camaraderie within the community. The afternoon was also opportune to mark the National Day of Malaysia on 31 August 2016. The Malaysian community, joined by the staff of the Embassy of Malaysia, sang along to the national anthem “Negaraku”, while the “Jalur Gemilang” was hoisted.
The National Day ought to be appreciated by Malaysians not just by flying the national flag but by instilling the sentiment of safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. This is a sentiment that is shared by Ukrainians who had celebrated their Independence Day in the same month of August.
