The City of Murrieta, California in cooperation with Consulate General of Malaysia in Los Angeles had successfully co-organized a business briefing on "Doing Business with Malaysia" held at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta on 18 September 2012. The program is intended to create better awareness among US companies and businesses, particularly those from the Murrieta areas, on the business opportunities available in Malaysia, in addition to further enhance trade and investment relationship between United States and Malaysia.
During the event, The Hons. Doug McAllister, Mayor of City of Murrieta had delivered his welcoming remarks and followed by Mr. Rick Gibbs, Council Member of City of Murrieta. Next was a brief presentation by Mr. Fred Latuperisa, Director of US Department of Commerce, who briefed the audience on the bilateral relations and opportunities between United States and Malaysia. On the Malaysian side, Mr. Nekmat Ismail, Consul General of Malaysia Los Angeles delivered a brief remark, and then followed by the presentation by Ms. Norbilah Hussein, Assistant Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Los Angeles and Mr. Hazli Jemaat, Director of MIDA Los Angeles. Others Malaysian officials attended the event were Mr. Azham Ishak, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles and Ms. Rosedalina Ramlan, Assistant Director of MIDA Los Angeles
During the presentations, MATRADE LA and MIDA LA had briefed the audience on trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia. The business briefing was well attended by more than 30 business people who wanted to know more and interested in doing business with Malaysia. The event definitely has its success in creating awareness and interest about Malaysia and the opportunities available, and the Malaysian teams in Los Angeles look forward to continue to work together with City of Murrieta and other relevant parties for future events.
