The Malaysian Association of Southern California (MASC) hosted a dinner reception to celebrate the Chinese New Year at a seafood restaurant in Anaheim, California on Saturday, 23 February 2013. Present as guest of honour was the Consul General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, Mr. Nekmat Ismail, who was accompanied by his spouse.
The evening began with the playing of the national anthems of Malaysia and the United States of America, after which Consul General in his short remarks commended MASC for their active role in promoting Malaysian culture and diversity as well as their positive contributions to the wellbeing of Malaysians and its association members.
Guests were then entertained with the traditional lion dance, ang pow giveaway and other performances throughout the evening. The Chinese New Year Dinner reception was indeed a wonderful occasion and opportunity for Malaysians to come together.
