On 24 July 2025, His Excellency Tan Sri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob presented his Letter of Credence to The Honourable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America.
During the ceremony, H.E. Tan Sri Shahrul Ikram had the opportunity to briefly exchanged warm pleasantries with President Trump, conveying his commitment to further strengthen the Malaysia-United States bilateral relationship, while thanking the President for Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s participation at the recent 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Kuala Lumpur from 8 to 11 July 2025, which has further reaffirming the United States’ commitment to the region, as well as the deepening of the Malaysia-United States Comprehensive Partnership.
Over the past six decades since 1957, Malaysia-United States’ ties has grown into a multifaceted partnership encompassing political, economic, defense and security, educational, and people-to-people cooperation. The Presentation of Credentials Ceremony at the White House on 24 July 2025 has officially marks His Excellency Tan Sri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob as the 18th Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the United States.
