On 29 June 2012, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd. Radzi Abdul Rahman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Y.Bhg. Datuk Othman Hashim, Malaysian Ambassador to the U.S., officiated the handing over of the Chancery Annex Buildings from contractor Insight Engineering Inc. to the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C.
The handing over ceremony comprised of a symbolic presentation of the key to the buildings by Mr. Anthony Vaz, Project Manager of Insight Engineering to the Secretary General, who then extended the key to the Malaysian Ambassador. The handing over ceremony was then followed by a guided tour of the buildings followed by refreshments.
Renovation work on the two buildings, which were originally built in the 1920s, began on 30 March 2010 and was completed this year.
