On 14 May 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) for the 22nd CAEXPO, at Howard Johnson CAEXPO Plaza Nanning.
The SOM was co-chaired by Mr. Wang Qihui, Deputy Director-General of Asian Affairs Department of Ministry of Commerce, China and Dr. Htein Lynn, Director-General of Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization, representing ASEAN as the Country of Honour.
The 22nd CAEXPO is scheduled to be held on 17-21 September 2025. Apart from the traditional pavilions, several new pavilions will be set up by the host in the Pavilion of Emerging Industries, such as AI, new quality productive forces, blue economy, and China-ASEAN FTA 3.0 New Opportunities Zone.
During the SOM, Mr. Mohamad Haris Abdul Latiff, Trade Consul in Guangzhou briefed on Malaysia’s CAEXPO-related work and progress for the 22nd CAEXPO. He also highlighted the issues encountered in the 21st CAEXPO that needs to be addressed in the upcoming session in September.
The SOM was followed by a courtesy meeting with H.E. Liao Pinhu, Vice Governor of Guangxi Government. The guests were treated to a luncheon banquet hosted by H.E. Liao following the meeting.
Also in attendance were Mr. Unny Sankar Ravi Sankar, Minister (Economic Affairs) of Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing, Mr. Safwan Nizar Johari, Acting Investment Consul of Malaysia in Guangzhou, and officials from MATRADE HQ.
