A group of 10 motor-bikers from Malaysia coming from various backgrounds but united in their love for adventure tourism visited Uzbekistan from 27th September to 10th October 2013 at the invitation of UzbekTourism National Company in conjunction with the 19th Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF), 8th to 10th October 2013.
The Malaysian bikers arrived in Tashkent by Uzbekistan Airways which also sponsored the freight of their BMW power-motorbikes to Tashkent a week earlier. H.E. Ambassador Abdul Aziz Harun hosted a breakfast for them at the Embassy on 28th September before flagging them off to start their Trans-Uzbek Venture, a journey which lasted for almost two weeks. During their journey the Malaysian group visited the historic cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva in addition to various tourist sites and attractions in Jizzakh province and Karakalpak Autonomous Republic including the site of the shrinking Aral Sea.
On 7th October the Malaysian group returned to Tashkent and on 8th October, they attended the opening ceremony of the TITF. UzbekTourism National Company showcased the Malaysian bikers group as an example of the enormous potential in Uzbekistan for adventure tourism when tourists ride their own motorbikes through different terrain and cover all the historical cities and tourist attractions across the country.
