CELEBRATION OF THE 60TH NATIONAL DAY OF MALAYSIA IN HANOI, 31 AUGUST 2017, 12.30 PM, SHERATON HOTEL HANOI

On 31 August 2017, a reception to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Malaysia’s National Day was hosted by H.E. Mohd Zamruni Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the Sheraton Hotel Hanoi. Around 400 guests including Ambassadors, Charge d’ Affaires and representatives from various Embassies and International Organisations in Hanoi as well as Vietnamese Government Officials and businessmen attended the event.  Malaysians living and working in Hanoi also attended the event.

 

The event started at 12.40 pm with the presence of H.E. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam as guest of honour. A traditional dance by Tourism Pahang was performed. Subsequently, the Malaysian and Vietnamese National Anthems were played. 

 

 

Guests were then treated with varieties of Malaysian dishes which included among others, nasi lemak, mee kari, nasi ulam, karipap, chicken rendang, pasembor and an assortment of Malaysian desserts such as pengat pisang, apam balik, puding raja, teh tarik and many more.  The Malaysian dishes were prepared by two Malaysian chefs from Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur as part of Sheraton Hotel’s effort to promote Malaysian cuisine through Malaysian Food Fair in conjunction with the Malaysian National Day. While guests were enjoying the Malaysian culinary delight, an assortment of cultural performances including traditional dances and music from Tourism Pahang as well as a ‘Teh Tarik’ demonstration were presented.
