IMPORTANT MESSAGES TO MALAYSIANS
Dear Malaysians,
1. If the Vietnamese Government placed you in mandatory 14-day quarantine, please complete this mandatory quarantine requirement, even if you are tested negative for COVID-19.
2. The Embassy of Malaysia is unable and cannot intervene in the quarantine rules established by the Vietnamese government.
3. Please understand that the Embassy may not issue any documentation requesting the Vietnamese government to waive the quarantine requirements for Malaysians being quarantined in Vietnam.
4. Quarantine sites in Vietnam may be uncomfortable and may have only rudimentary facilities. Please tolerate and seek assistance from duty doctors shall you need anything.
5. Please inform the Embassy if you are requested to be self or centralized quarantine. Please reach out to our Duty Officer at +8490-4185610.
6. Any Malaysians experiencing symptoms of the COVID-19 virus such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing or those concerned they may have been exposed to the virus should call Vietnam’s health hotline right away: 19003228 (Vietnamese language only. 7. This is the time for all Malaysians in Vietnam to come out and register with the Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate General Office in Ho Chi Minh. Kindly email all particulars tomwhanoi@kln.gov.my and mwhochiminh@kln.gov.my. Please help us to help you.
8. Please make travel arrangements out of Vietnam as soon as possible. The number of commercial flights departing Vietnam to Malaysia is rapidly decreasing. Do monitor the Embassy’s social media accounts for constant updates.
9. The local regulations is that those who have entered Vietnam (including Vietnamese citizens and foreigners) from March 1 until the present should:
- Complete the medical declaration form https://tokhaiyte.vn/;
- Implement 14-day self-quarantine at home (if not yet subject to concentrated quarantine) and limit contact with others after the 14-day period;
- Wear face masks, wash hands with soap or antiseptic alcohol, and take other preventive measures; and
- Contact the nearest health facility for advice and support.
- It is required to ensure a minimum distance of 2 metre between person to person in public places.
10. Vietnam has appointed 30 screening centers nationwide to carry out testing and diagnosis of COVID-19 disease, as well as 45 quick response teams to assist health facilities in the processing and treatment of COVID-19 patients. 11. From 28 March 2020 to 15 April 2020, the Vietnamese government has banned events of over 20 people and gatherings of over 10 people in public spaces, which includes all religious services as well as cultural, sports, and entertainment activities.
12. Most businesses providing services deemed non-essential have been ordered to close. The Vietnamese government has limited domestic flights and discouraged use of public transportation.
13. Most schools from kindergarten to Grade 11 are closed nationwide until at least 4 April 2020.
14. Any Malaysians that wish to extend their visit in Vietnam must engage a local travel agency to request for visa extension.
