IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL MALAYSIANS (STRANDED IN VIETNAM)
1. Kindly be informed that the Department of Immigration of Vietnam on 4 April 2021 has issued latest notice regarding the assistance and support to stranded foreign citizens in Vietnam due to the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:
- Vietnam will continue to implement the "automatic extension of temporary residence" until the end of April 2021 to all foreign citizens who entered Vietnam on visa waivers, e-visas or tourist visas after 1st March 2020 and can depart from Vietnam without having applied for stay extension.

- For those who entered Vietnam before 1st March 2020, the same automatic stay extension until the end of April 2021 can be considered. However this is subject to provision of proof that the person was stranded in Vietnam due to Covid-19, accompanied by a diplomatic Note (with Vietnamese translation) from relevant diplomatic missions, or a written document from relevant Vietnamese authorities confirming that the person was required to undergo mandatory quarantine or treatment for Covid-19, or advice of other force majeure. The person is required to present the diplomatic Note or written document on departure from Vietnam.
- During “automatic stay extension” period, foreigners are required to complete temporary residence and health status declaration.
2. In this regard, the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi would like to remind all Malaysians staying and those stranded in Vietnam to adhere to the latest instructions issued by the Vietnamese authorities.
