LATEST GUIDELINES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION OF VIETNAM

 

 

1.         The Department of Immigration of Vietnam has issued a notification regarding the assistance and support to stranded foreign citizens due to the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:


(i)         The "automatic extension of temporary residence" to foreign citizens will apply until the end of 31 August 2020. All foreign nationals stranded in Vietnam during the period of "automatically extended temporary residence" must declare temporary residence and medical declaration as prescribed by the authorities;


(ii)        Vietnam will continue to implement the content of Official Letter No. 4226 / XNC issued by the Department of Immigration of Vietnam issued on 30 March 2020 until 31 August 2020. (iii)       Foreigners who are not eligible for "automatic extension of temporary residence status" or have other law violations, must comply with the current provisions of Vietnamese law; and


(iv)       In the event of a foreign citizen has a passport that is about to expire and there is a note confirming the fact that a new passport cannot be issued due to the pandemic, the Immigration Department will consider and create favorable conditions to settle if requested by the individual at the Department of Immigration
