In conjunction with the National Sports Month 2019 celebration, the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi organised several sports and recreational activities for the month of October 2019. All HBS and LRS of the Embassy, together with some Malaysians residing in Hanoi participated in the month-long event. Among the activities include jogging/brisk-walking, bowling and futsal.

On 4, 11 and 18 October 2019, the Embassy organised jogging and brisk-walking sessions at Hanoi Botanical Garden, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Truc Bac Lake, respectively. The programme started with a warming up and stretching session that was followed by brisk-walking and jogging around the parks and iconic landmarks of Hanoi from 4.00 pm – 5.30 pm.

On 10 October 2019, the Embassy staff and their family members joined other Malaysians that travelled to Hanoi to support the Harimau Malaya team during a football match against Vietnam. The football match, which was held at Dinh Stadium Hanoi, was a grouping match for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar & 2023 AFC Qualifiers Round 2 AFC Asian Cup China.  Despite losing 1-0 to Vietnam, the Malaysian supporters showed good spirit in supporting the Malaysian football team throughout the match.

A bowling session among HBS and family members was held on 12 October 2019.  The session was held at Hero World Games & Bowling Center, Vincom Megamall Royal City, Hanoi from 1.00 pm – 3 .00 pm.

The Embassy also organised a weekly friendly football game among the Embassy staff, friends of the Embassy as well as other members of the diplomatic corps. The friendly football game was held every Friday night throughout October at Au Co Soccer Field, Hanoi from 9.00pm to 11.00pm.

The National Sports Month was a good initiative by the Government of Malaysia in encouraging Malaysians to be more involved in sporting and fitness activities. Hence, the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi is in full support of this event in order to ensure that all HBS and LRS can practise a healthy and active lifestyle.
