Passport Renewal
NEW MALAYSIAN PASSPORT
1. The following documents are required (in 2 copies each):
1.1 Recent photograph of the applicant (white background, size 3.5 by 5 cm);
1.2 For adult applicants: copies (A4 size) of Identity Card , current passport (all pages) and Vietnamese Resident Card (if any);
1.3 For child applicants: copies (A4 size) of current passport (all pages for case of renewal) + children/ infant’s Malaysian birth certificate.
Identity Card and passport of parents + Malaysian marriage certificate of parents.
- Note that the Malaysia IMM requires a father of child to sign the form of passport application upon submission, if not, a father must get the form A1B1 from Malaysia IMM and send email to mwhochiminh@kln.gov.my or hcm.consular@kln.gov.my
2. Fee:
2.1 RM 100.00 for children under the age of 12 and senior citizens above the age of 60;
2.2 RM 200.00 for other applicants.
Note: The Consulate General will send your application to the Department of Immigration in Malaysia for processing. Once the new passport has been issued, the Department of Immigration will send the passport to the Consulate General for you to collect in person. For security reason, the passport will be sent by diplomatic bag. As such, the entire process will take time. If you need a new passport urgently, you are advised to travel to Malaysia and renew the passport at a Department of Immigration office.
EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE
1. A fee of RM50.00 per application will be charged
For infants/children born in Vietnam
2. The following documents are required (in 2 copies each):
2.1 Copy of Malaysian birth certificate;
2.2 Malaysian marriage certificate of both parents;
2.3 Passport of both parents; and
2.4 Identity card of both parents.
2.5 Recent photograph of the applicant (white background, size 3.5 X 5 cm).
2.6 Processing time is 04 working days.
In case of lost passport
The following documents are required (in 2 copies each):
- Local (Vietnam) police report (in English or with English translation);
- Copies of Malaysian Identity Card or birth certificate or lost passport; and
- Recent photograph of the applicant (white background, size 3.5 by 5 cm).
- Note: Vietnamese authorities require Malaysian holder of emergency certificate to apply for an exit visa issued by the Immigration Department of Vietnam (address: No. 333, Nguyen Trai, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). A penalty may be imposed by the Immigration Department of Vietnam and the issuance of exit visa may take time which in turn could affect your travel plans.
