AUSTRALIAN DAY RECEPTION IN HONOUR OF THE CONSULAR CORPS IN VICTORIA

 

The State Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. William Fisher hosted an Australian Day Reception in honour of the Consular Corps in Melbourne, Victoria yesterday, Tuesday, 31 January 2012.

 

The Consular Corps in Victoria is comprised of 22 Career Consul Generals and 46 Honorary Consuls.

 

Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Victoria Chapter as well as representatives from the business community in Melbourne also attended the reception. The Chief of Protocol of DFAT in Canberra, Miss Sally Mansfield, was also present at the reception, which was held at Comme, 7 Alfred Place, CBD Melbourne.

 

The reception that commenced at 6 in the evening began by a welcoming speech by Hon Bruce Atkinson, President of the Victorian State Legislative Council, and a toast to the Queen of Britain.

 

The Consul General of Malaysia had the opportunity to meet the new Consul General of Indonesia, Mr Irmawan Emir Wisnandar whom arrived in Melbourne two weeks ago.
