68TH SESSION OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE PEACEFUL USES OF OUTER SPACE (COPUOS), VIENNA, 25 JUNE - 2 JULY 2025
Thursday, 26 June - YBhg. Dato' Azlikamil Napiah, Director General of the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) delivered the national statement, under Agenda Item 4: General Exchange of Views, at the above meeting.
In view of its status as an emerging space-faring nation, Malaysia updated on the encouraging progress on the development of its dynamic outer space ecosystem, among others, through:
- the enforcement of the Malaysia Space Board Act 2022;
- the implementation of the National Space Policy, Space Exploration & Space Industry Strategic Plan that had benefitted more than 70 local companies & generated RM6.12 billion for the 2017-2024 period;
- efforts to accede to the Treaty on Principles Governing the Aciticities of States in the Exploration (Outer Space Treaty) & Use of Outer Space, including the Moon & Other Celestial Bodies & the Convention on Registration of Objects Launched into Outer Space;
- cooperation & capacity-building inititatives with Japan & UN Office for Outer Space (UNOOSA).
