YAB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd. Kadir, the Chief Minister of Perak, Malaysia, led a working visit to Brussels on 21 – 22 April 2015. The Chief Minister’s delegation comprise officials from the Perak State government and Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation.
During his visit, the Chief Minister’s attended the 2015 Seafood Expo Global in Brussels. He also witnessed the signing of three (3) Memorandum of Understandings related to export and/or purchase of seafood from Malaysia (Perak) to the EU markets. The MoUs signed between the Perak-based seafood enterprises and Europe-based seafood importers and/or retailers are as follows:-
(i) Trapia Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Colruyt;
(ii) Trapia Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Queens Products; and
(iii) SBH Perak Agro Agriculture Sdn Bhd and Nautilus SR Italy.
Malaysia’s participation at the Seafood Expo was coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture of Malaysia through its Agriculture Attaché based in The Hague, Netherlands. In 2015, the participation of Malaysian companies at the Expo increased to eight (8) companies compared to six (6) in 2014.
The Chief Minister and his delegation also took the opportunity to visit other exhibits at the Expo. The Expo is currently the world’s largest seafood event. An estimated 1,700 exhibiting companies from over 70 countries participated over three days from 21 to 23 April 2015. It also drew an estimated 25,000 buyers and suppliers from some 150 countries.
