24th Asia Pacific Regional Scout Conference in Bangladesh, 24-29 November 2012

DHAKA- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Patron-in-Chief inaugurated the 24th Asia Pacific Regional Scout Conference 2012 at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre in Dhaka.  The opening ceremony of the Conference held on 24 November 2012 was attended by Scouts Association from the Asia Pacific countries including 38 members of delegation from the Scouts Association of Malaysia led by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Shahrum bin Osman, National Chief Scout Commissioner.  Among others present at the ceremony were participating countries key Scout leaders, High level Government Officials, Foreign Diplomats and Bangladesh Scouts from various districts in Bangladesh.  Later in the evening, a welcoming dinner in honour of the foreign delegates was held with the presence of the Honourable Mr. Abul Maal A. Muhith, Finance Minister of Bangladesh as the Chief Guest and Patron of the said Conference.  Her Excellency Madam Norlin binti Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia attended the events along with Heads of Mission from countries like Brunei Darussalam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia and Maldives.
Regional Scout Conference is an important event for the world scouting to carry out the purpose of World Scout Committee and its policies as well as to update the member countries on how the region has performed in the last three years. The Conference also aim to promote the spirit of goodwill and friendship among the member countries.
