Minister Leaves For Zakat Conference In KL

Bandar Seri Begawan - Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain, Minister of Religious Affairs, yesterday left to attend various conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The minister is accompanied by an entourage that includes Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Mohiddin, and several senior officers.
Present to bid farewell to the delegation were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin, and senior officers from the Ministry.
In Kuala Lumpur, the minister will attend a "Special International Conference on Zakat" today at Hotel Mandarin Oriental. This conference is held to share experiences among countries in the management of tithe and discuss the formation of an international association for tithe.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of Religious Affairs will be attending the 31st. Senior Officers Meeting (SOM) from November 28-29. Several of six of the working papers to be discussed during the meeting will presented by Brunei Darussalam, namely, "Modul Insan Sumber kekuatan"; "Dakwah Bil Hal Sebagai Media Kontemporari Dakwah"; and, "Manhaj Hadhari; Penghuraian Mengenai Penguasaan llmu Dalam Islam". The minister will also be attending the 12th Unofficial Meeting of MABIMS (Religious Ministers of Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia and Republic of Singapore).
Malaysia is also hosting the Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran (children's category) where members of MABIMS will participate tomorrow night. Representing Brunei Darussalam are Ak Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Hj Jofri and Dk Umi Syazana bte Pengiran Haji Marzuki.
Both participants are winners of the recent Arab preparation and Ugama School Al-Quran Reading Competition 1427H/2006M.
