IN A bid to better serve its growing customer base in Brunei Darussalam, United Motors Sdn Bhd yesterday launched its 3S Centre located at Kg Pengkalan Gadong – a ceremony that was officiated by Haznah Md Hashim, the Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.
Also taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Proton Holdings Berhad Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dato Lukamn bin Ibrahim and the Chairman of United Motors Sdn Bhd, Pehin Datu Indera Negara Lt Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Ariffin bin Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Wahab, the main distributor for Proton in Brunei.
The Gadong 3S Centre is situated on a 1,179 square metre area and is able to showcase a maximum of nine cars and service up to 11 cars at any one time.
In conjunction with the opening, the Malaysian automobile manufacturer also unveiled the new Satria Neo R3 to the Brunei market. Brunei is the first country outside of Malaysia to launch the sporty Satria Neo R3.
The new Satria Neo R3 comes with a powerful 1.6L Campro CPS engine that produces 125hp at 6500rpm.
The engine also offers two modes – power or fuel efficient – that automatically switches to either one according to the driving condition.
Alfred Yong, the Executive Director, presented a speech on behalf of Simon Gelan, the Managing Director of United Motors, in which he recalled the achievements of United Motors over the past year by stating “by the end of 2012, we managed to put Proton as the ninth bestselling car brand in Brunei Darussalam based on total industrial volume with a 2.3 per cent market share.
This has been a great achievement given that we have come from a very low base. In March 2013, we relocated to the new Proton Gadong 3S Centre. All the key services are located in the centre which includes service, repairs, spare parts, warranty, sales and the corporate office.
“I am happy and proud to state that Proton is our key partner. In February, we launched the Proton Preve, Proton’s first global car that has raised and set the bar for a new generation of Proton cars in key aspect of safety, performance, comfort , build quality, technology, overall design and convenience.
“The Proton brand is associated with affordability and easy access to parts and services. Proton cars are predominately ideal for the family but today, with the launch of the Proton Satria Neo R3, Proton also demonstrates that it can produce a model that is sporty and affordable in the same tradition as the Proton Preve.”
Meanwhile, Dato Lukman in his speech highlighted, “We believed that United Motors has put forward a solid business plan, one that is not only devoted to fulfilling greater customer satisfaction but designed to elevate the Proton brand even higher in Brunei. Proof of this is the new Proton showroom that we are standing in today.”
In addition, “we have also implemented in place, plans to further help boost Proton’s presence in Malaysia and our key markets”.
In the quest to strengthen the Proton brand, he revealed that Proton has also launched a new campaign called ‘Your Smile is Our Inspiration’.
The campaign’s objective is to win back the hearts and minds of Proton customers while also inspiring all Proton employees to aim for greater heights in the company’s mission to become a leading global mobility solutions provider.
