1Malaysia Hari Raya and Deepavali Open House on 5th October 2009 in Vancouver BC

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver organised a 1Malaysia Hari Raya and Deepavali Open House on 5 October 2009.

 

A total of about 120 guests as well as staff and family of the Consulate General and Tourism Malaysia office in Vancouver attended the reception.  40 Malaysian students studying at local universities in British Columbia came to the reception.

 

The Consul General took the opportunity to explain the concept of 1Malaysia to the audience in view of the government's call for the people to remain united and progress together beyond the racial prism.  He also urged the Malaysian community in Vancouver to work as one and follow the 1Malaysia concept.

 

The Malaysia Arts and Cultural Club (MACC) performed three dances depiciting Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures of Malaysia.  The Malaysian students enthusiastically perform a poetry recital accompanied by the Chinese zither and sang Hari Raya songs.
