APPLICATION FOR A NEW MALAYSIAN PASSPORT / PASSPORT RENEWAL

 

For Malaysians residing in Provinces and Territories under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver:

Documents to be submitted

1.

One (1) copy of Passport Application Form (IM.42-Pin.1/97) which can be downloaded here, or obtained at the Consulate General of Malaysia. Please ensure to provide a CLEAR thumb print (visible threads in blue/black ink) on the designated space in the form witness by consulate personnel.

 

**For applications sent by post, the right-hand thumbprint on the application form must be witnessed by a Notary Public, and a notarized letter must be attached to the form. Refer sample of notarize letter here.

 

2.

Original Malaysian International Passport AND 2 sets of photocopies of the biodata pages 1 and 2.

 

3.

Original Malaysian Identity Card AND 2 sets of photocopies (front and back of card). If not available, please submit an original extract of Malaysian Identity Card (MyKad) issued by JPN in Malaysia.

4.

Valid original Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) Card AND 2 sets of photocopies (front and back of card).

 

*PR card must be valid for at least 6 months before the expiry date.

 

If you DO NOT possess a valid Canadian PR Card, you are required to produce the original Search Letter (also authenticated by **Apostille Canada) from the Canadian Immigration Citizenship (CIC) Department confirming that you have not applied for / acquired Canadian Citizenship (not applicable to those below 18 years of age). 5.

Those on Study Permit, please produce:

 

a. Study Permit (if applicable) AND 2 sets of photocopies

 

b. Letter from your university, college or school, confirming that you are a bonafide student AND 2 sets of photocopies

 

c. Valid original study permit (in your passport) issued by the Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (CIC) Department AND 2 sets of photocopies

6.

Those on Work Permit, please produce:

 

a. Work Permit (if applicable) AND 2 sets of photocopies

 

b. Valid original work visa (in your passport) issued by the Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (CIC) Department AND 2 sets of photocopies

 

7.

THREE (3) recent coloured photographs with white background (print name behind photos), forehead, ears and lips visible, head veil must be dark colour, no smiling, no spectacles, no earrings, and wear dark clothing; size 3.5 cm x 5.0 cm with small envelope.

CASH (Exact change) only at the OFFICE.

Money order OR Bank draft (payable to the “Consulate General of Malaysia”)

9.

Additional documents for Children Under 18 years old and first-time applicants.

 

a. One (1) copy of Parents' Consent Form Borang A1/B1 (IM.42A-Pin1/93) which can be download here or obtained at the Consulate General of Malaysia

b. Original Malaysian Birth Certificate or Original Borang W or Borang H, AND 2 sets of photocopies. Applicable also for first-time applicants

c. Original Parents’ Passports AND 2 sets of photocopies of the biodata pages 1 and 2

d. Original Parents’ Malaysian Identity Cards AND 2 sets of photocopies (front and back of card)

e. Original Parents’ Permanent Residence Card /Work Permit/Study Permit AND 2 sets of photocopies

f. Original Parents’ Marriage Certificate AND 2 sets of photocopies

 

10.

We highly encourage applicants to submit applications and collect new passports at the Consulate General of Malaysia.

 

Those who are unable to do so may submit applications by trackable mail and/or receive new passports by mail. A self-addressed prepaid (trackable) envelope from a reputable courier service (such as FedEx, Purolator, or UPS). Please email or call the consulate before mail your application. 

 

The Consulate General of Malaysia bears no responsibility nor cost incurred for any loss or damages to the documents when applicants opt for the mail services. Applicant need to fill in and email the Letter of Waiver that can be downloaded here to vcv.consular@kln.gov.my.

 

 

NOTE:

 

  1. Processing time is two (2) to four (4) months.
     
  2. All Malaysians are strongly advised to renew their passports at least one year in advance before the expiry date, to avoid delay for your student/work permit application extension submission to the Canada Immigration. Passport renewal process is between 2 to 4 months upon submission of complete application to the Consulate in Vancouver in person.
     
  3. All Malaysians residing in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan are strongly advised to register with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver in view of the frequency of natural and man-made disasters worldwide. Information gathered during registration would facilitate expeditious Consular assistance and easy access to communication with the next-of-kin in case of Emergency.
