10/09: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver recently hosted a reception to mark Malaysia’s 68th National Day, bringing together an esteemed gathering of guests that included Ministers of British Columbia, Parliamentary Secretaries, Members of the Legislative Assembly, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, strategic partners, and Malaysian professionals residing in the province.
The celebration was graced by the Guest of Honour, Minister Rick Glumac, who delivered his remarks following Consul General Afandi. Both speakers extended warm congratulations to Malaysia on its National Day and underscored their hopes for stronger ties and deeper collaboration between Malaysia and Canada—particularly with British Columbia.
Guided by this year’s national theme, Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni, the evening highlighted not only the spirit of unity but also Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. Guests enjoyed meaningful networking opportunities, a wide selection of authentic Malaysian delicacies, and a captivating Sarawak cultural dance performance.
In a special gesture, Minister Glumac presented a plaque of appreciation to Consul General Afandi on behalf of the Government of British Columbia, acknowledging his contributions during his tenure and wishing him success as he takes on his new diplomatic assignment.
