On 25 September 2010, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver hosted the National Day Reception in conjunction with the 43rd Anniversary of the Independence Day of Malaysia which normally falls on 31 August. It was held at the Terasen Center. A total of 160 guests from the local leaders, academicians, businessmen, Malaysian students and community members.
Hon. Richard T Lee, Parliamentary Secretary for Asia Pacific Initiative delivered his greetings on behalf of the government of British Columbia. The Hon Andrew Saxton, MP for North Vancouver, Hon John Yap, Minister of State for Climate Change of British Columbia also gave their greetings during the auspicious occasion.
The guests were later entertained by a choir by Malaysian students representing the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.
