RTM Launches New Website
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Wednesday launched its new official website - www.rtm.net.my - to help strengthen its role as an information provider domestically and overseas. The launching of the website, which can be accessed for information on all of RTM's programmes, was done by Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin.
Zainuddin said the website was not only meant for locals but would also give Malaysians abroad an opportunity to know the latest goings-on in the country via the Internet. He said that through the streaming method, Malaysians locally and overseas can avail to themselves RTM's radio and television programmes online.
"Malaysians, especially those studying abroad now can get accurate and latest information on the developments taking place back home," he said in his speech at the launching ceremony, here. He said RTM's success in creating the new website showed that it was a versatile broadcaster and not one assumed by some to be outdated. Zainuddin, however, reminded the staff involved in producing the site to pay serious attention to ensure all information contained in it was up to date. "It's no use having a sophisticated website if the contents are stale. It must serve its purpose and meet the people's expectations," he said.
At the function, Zainuddin also did video-conferencing with two Malaysian students overseas, one in Japan and the other in New York and also a Malaysian working in Australia to test the website's capability.
