APPLICATION FOR A VISA TO ENTER MALAYSIA

For Applicants with Passports Requiring a Visa Prior to Entry

Please visit the Official portal Immigration Department of Malaysia for eVisa (Electronic Visa) information at https://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-services/visa/evisa-en/. Information on passports that require a visa before entry, visa procedure (payment and documents to submit), and duration of visa validity will be available on the website.

To apply for an eVisa or log in to your existing eVisa account, please visit the official eVisa Portal at https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/. Please contact the Live Chat Support team directly on the eVisa Portal (i.e. red “dialogue” icon) for inquiries. Please be advised that applications submitted through the eVisa Portal are reviewed and processed solely by Immigration Malaysia.

For Applicants with Travel Documents

Please note that the requirements below are also applicable to passport holders who have been instructed by Immigration Malaysia to obtain a single-entry visa (SEV). Application has to be made in person at:

Documents to be submitted

Original travel document or passport (must be valid up to six (6) months and above before the date of departure from Malaysia)

One (1) copy of completed Visa application form IM.47-Pin.1/97 (include email address and telephone number), can be downloaded at www.imi.gov.my or obtained at the Consulate General of Malaysia


3.	Two (2) passport-sized photographs (white background, standard size 3.5 cm x 5.0 cm. Kindly refer to this link for the photo : https://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-services/passport/malaysian-international-passport/
4.	Valid original Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Card with one (1) photocopy (front and back of card)
5.	Cover Letter for travel (Personal)
6.	3 months of recent local Canadian bank statements
7.	Proof of Employment (mandatory) issued by your employer on the company’s letterhead confirming that you are employed, and you are returning to continue your work
8.	Letter of Enrolment issued by university / institution confirming that you are returning to continue your education (if applicable)
9.	Copy of confirmed FLIGHT E-TICKET from Canada to Malaysia, and RETURN FLIGHT E-TICKET Copy of confirmed hotel booking
10.	Letter of Invitation (if applicable) from a relative or a friend in Malaysia, with: 1) Complete address and land title 2) Copy of Malaysian Identity Card (MyKad) – Mandatory 3) Copy of Work Permit / Visa / Passport Biodata Page – Mandatory 4) Telephone number

NOTE: Current processing time is three to five (3 to 5) business days. However, applications must be submitted three (3) weeks prior to departure.

VISA APPLICATION FOR INTERNSHIP/STUDY/WORKING

For internship/study/work, applicants need to approach their sponsor/company in Malaysia to apply for the entry permit with the Immigration Department in Malaysia. The Consulate General of Malaysia will only issue an appropriate visa once the approval from the Immigration Department is granted.

Effective as of August 2022, travelers to Malaysia are permitted to enter Malaysia, regardless of vaccination status.

Starting 1 December 2023, Immigration Department of Malaysia introduced Visa Liberalisation Plan. Kindly refer to this link:

Effective 1 January 2024, all foreign travellers to Malaysia are required to complete a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).

This online pre-arrival form can be filled out up to three days before your scheduled arrival in Malaysia. Travellers must present a valid passport and a completed MDAC to border officers for validation before proceeding through the immigration counter. IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MALAYSIA DIGITAL ARRIVAL CARD (MDAC)

All foreign citizens travelling to Malaysia must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), except:

i) Citizens of Singapore;

ii) Diplomatic and Official Passport holders;

iii) Malaysian Permanent Residents and Long Term-Pass holders;

iv) General Certificate of Identity (GCI) Brunei Darussalam holders;

v) Brunei Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility holders;

vi) Thailand Border Pass holders; and

vii) Indonesia Cross-Border Travel Document (PLB) holders.

Effective 1 January 2024, completion of this MDAC will be mandatory, except those listed above.

PELAKSANAAN KEPERLUAN MENGISI MALAYSIA DIGITAL ARRIVAL CARD (MDAC)

Pematuhan pengisian Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) kepada semua pengembara yang ingin memasuki Malaysia.

Kategori yang diberikan pengecualian untuk mengisi MDAC:

i) Semua warganegara Singapura;

ii) Pemegang Pasport Diplomatik dan Rasmi;

iii) Pemastautin Tetap Malaysia dan Pemegang Pas Jangka Panjang Malaysia;

iv) Sijil Pengenalan Biasa Brunei (GCI);

v) Pemegang Brunei Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility;

vi) Pemegang Pas Sempadan Thailand; dan

vii) Pemegang Pas Lintas Batas (PLB) Indonesia;

Pengisian MDAC ini akan diwajibkan mulai 1 Januari 2024 kecuali kategori-kategori yang dijelaskan.
