For Cantons under the jurisdiction of the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to UN Geneva - Geneva and Vaud:
Malaysians visiting Geneva and Vaud are advised to be aware of the local security situation and take sensible precautions. As a general guideline:
Personal safety: Visitors are advised to exercise caution, particularly in public places, areas frequented by foreigners and tourists, and at large gatherings. We recommend complying with any instructions issued by the local authorities and monitoring local media to stay informed.
Travel documents: Visitors are advised to take particular care of their passport when walking in public areas and travelling on public transport. Visitors are advised to have their passport on them at all times, in case they encountered random checks conducted by the local authorities. However, please verify the identification of the inspecting parties to ensure they are not criminals posing as police officers.
Personal belongings: Visitors are advised to avoid carrying valuables and pay close attention to their personal belongings when walking in public areas and travelling on public transport.
Health insurance: Visitors are recommended to take out travel insurance covering the costs of essential medical treatment in Switzerland. According to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) of Switzerland, tourists from non-European Union countries must have sufficient insurance to be entitled to receive medical treatment during visit to the country. Medical insurance providing minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 is a requisite. COVID-19 advisory: Prior to travelling to Switzerland, visitors should take into account their overall health, their vaccine status, and the risk of testing positive for COVID-19 while abroad. While in Switzerland, visitors are advised to maintain physical distancing, wear face masks and always wash hands to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.
