The Embassy of Malaysia in Santiago celebrated the 55th Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia with a lunch reception hosted by Ambassador Ganeson Sivagurunathan at the Santiago Marriott Hotel on Friday, 31st August 2012. The reception was attended by members from the diplomatic corps, officials from the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies, prominent businesspersons, universities, media and friends of Malaysia.
H.E. Ambassador S.Ganeson, in his remarks, highlighted amongst others, Malaysia´s economic growth, the progress of the Economic Transformation Programme and the recenlty launched Tun Abdul Razak Exchange. On Malaysia-Chile bilateral relations, Ambassador Ganeson pointed out that the Malaysia-Chile FTA which entered into force earlier this year would further enhance the bilateral trade which grew by 17% last year.
During the event, the guests were enthralled by the Malaysian feast accompanied by Malaysian traditional music as well as tourism videos. Among the variety of Malaysian cuisine served included Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rendang, Satay, rojak buah and onde-onde.
